Romain Simar

Graduated in 2016 from HEC, Management School of the University of Liège, in Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics. He works for the VentureLab, a business incubator that support the creation of start-ups by students and young graduates. He is also involved in different classes in the Entrepreneurship field at the University of Liège. In addition to his jobs at the University and the VentureLab, he launched a printing company, Copy Sim, in 2010 when he was 16 years old. To develop his company, he has been helped by Entrepreneurs and by the VentureLab. In 2016 and 2017, he conducted research linked to the lean start-up methodology. He graduated in 2017 from the University of Mons where he studied the creativity and innovation management.

Martin Schoonbroodt

Martin Schoonbroodt (1986) is Business Development Director (S&M) and co-founder of Probiotic Group. Probiotic Group researches, develops and produces products which have a positive impact against antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic consumption, the biotechnology company values sustainability, disruption for a healthier world and awareness. Prior to this Martin was Program Manager at PFSweb, an eCommerce and Digital Marketing company, where he was in charge of the online commerce expansion for brands like P&G, PANDORA jewellery or Starbucks. He started his professional career abroad within Dimension Data a South African company specialized in IT infrastructure. He holds a Masters degree in General Management from HEC-ULg and an Engineering degree in ICT from HE2B Ecole Supérieure d’Informatique. Martin is an expert in digital transformation and holds regularly events with the Federal Minister of Telecommunications, Alexander De Croo.

Edit Herczog

Edit Herczog is a founder and managing director of the Brussels based consultancy, Vision & Values. The company is specialized in European and Transatlantic projects, in the field of transition to the data economy, and new technologies in general. The company provides political foresight and strategic advice, including on the EU long term budget, to face the fast-changing political economic environment. In this role, among others she provides EU liaison service to GÉANT. In addition, she is a visiting professor at HEC LIEGE teaching International management  at MSc level, and  senior adviser at APCO worldwide since 2015. Since 2018 she is member of the Administrative Board of the European Agency for Energy Cooperation (ACER).

She is member of RDA since 2015, elected to the RDA Council in 2017, and as co-chair of the Financial Subcommittee. She is a board member at Transatlantic Policy Network and honorary member of the European Internet Forum. (where she served 8 years as governor).

She is a great believer and promoter of science driven progress without frontiers. She serves as data-sommelier to increase awareness of the data age to non-professional communities.

Prior to her current engagements, between 2004-14 Edit served as member of the European Parliament elected in Hungary, and served in the Committee of Industry Telecommunication, Research and Energy (ITRE), Committee of Budget and Committee of budget Control. She worked on several legislations connected to  industry and infrastructures in the field of energy, ICT and Research (Horizon 2020 ITER and Space programs) within the multiannual budget. She was vice president of the second biggest political group (S&D), supervising administrative and financial compliance and transparency.

Between 1994-2004 Edit has spent ten years in Multinational environment as manager for Central Eastern Europe, at Unilever Chemicals and ICI. In parallel she served as member of the Hungarian Parliament for seven years, in the field of the EU Integration.

Prior to this, she worked in the University of Horticulture in the department of Fermentation and Viticulture after taking her MSc in food engineering.

Peter Forceville, Senior Advisor

Peter Forceville (1969) is Managing Director and founder of Paretus. Paretus develops and implements differentiated marketing strategies for B2B SME’s and executes their business development. Prior to this Peter was Director of Sales at Helvoet Pharma (Datwyler Pharma Packaging) and Sales Manager at Corus Aluminium (Aleris), where he also co-founded the strategic business marketing department. He started his professional career in the family owned business. He holds a Masters degree in Commercial Engineering from the University of Leuven. Peter is visiting lecturer at the University of Hasselt and speaks regularly for the Belgian Chamber of Commerce and for various training institutes.

Tom Boonen

After graduating in Economics and Informatics, Tom started working at IBM. There he chooses to complete his studies at the MBA program of the Henley Management College.

He has held multiple national and international sales and management functions within IBM’s Software Group, IBM’s WW Strategy and Technology Team, as well as Marketing Management functions within Microsoft Benelux. In between Tom was managing his own company operating in Russia & CIS from 1992-1995.

Mid 2010 Tom took on a new challenge specializing in the different domains of Business Architecture and Business Process Management disciplines.

He is happily married with Svetlana and they have 2 lovely daughters Nathalie and Stefanie. Together they spend quality time hiking, swimming and cycling.

Wim Croonen, HR Director, Genzyme

Wim Croonen is HR Director of Genzyme (biotech company) in Belgium. Leon Vliegen holds a master in pedagogy and psychology, next to a post-graduate in HRManagement.  Today, Leon is owner/partner of Katena, a consultancy firm on HR & organization matters like talent& leadership assessment and development,organization development & change, and HR consultancy & projects.

Before his actual position Leon had a career as an HR professional in different companies, being Borealis, Tyco Electronics and Pregis.  In these companies he gradually moved from local to international roles.  Over the years he has developed a broad experience and expertise in Strategic HR, organization development & change,individual development and industrial relations.

Moreover he’s an important part and lecturer in the post graduate HR Leadership programme of the University of Hasselt.

MARCO MOTULLO,  Prof. dr., FH Aachen

Marco Motullo is Managing Partner of CPI Celebrity Performance GmbH. CPI Celebrity Performance develops and deploys innovative market research tools and media analyses tools to evaluate and track the impact of influential people for marketing purposes. Before, he worked as an Executive Assistant to a Corporate Senior Vice President and as a Project Manager at Henkel AG & Co. KGaA headquarters, and as a freelance business consultant.

Marco studied business administration at the University of Muenster (Germany) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA). After graduating, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Muenster, focusing on strategic management, strategic marketing, business-to-business marketing, and market research. In his PhD thesis he explored the possibility of projecting user behavior in social networks.

He currently holds lecturing positions at FH Aachen (Germany) and Cologne Business School (Germany).

Dr Markus Steingröver, Managing Partner

Markus Steingröver holds a MBA and a PhD in Economics and is Managing Partner and Head of the Wholesale Strategies Group in the Strategy and Marketing Department of Detecon International. He is also leading the Detecon Global Competence Team Wholesale Strategies. Detecon International is one of the world’s leading manufacturer-independent companies for integrated management and technology consultancy in the converging markets of telecommunications and information technology (ICT).

Before joining Detecon International, Dr Steingröver worked at the German Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Post (RegTP) during the beginning of Telco liberalisation in Europe. He advised mobile and fixed operators as well as regulatory authorities worldwide on a broad range of wholesale topics, such as business strategy, wholesale products, regulatory issues and costing in more than 40 countries. Particular focus areas of Dr Steingröver are regulatory issue, wholesale business development strategies and broadband access.

Dipl.-Math. Peter Brandenburg, Strategy Deployment

Peter Brandenburg is Referent of Strategy Deployment, Innovation & Portfolio Project Management at Vodafone D2 GmbH Düsseldorf, where he is responsible for process architecture and modeling of project and budget management for all projects running at Vodafone. He gain his practical and methodically experiences within the framework of activities and educations through execution of projects inside the company and ESPRIT undertaking using Project-, Quality-, Process-, and Portfolio Management. He is member of the board of QFD-ID and has demonstrated through congresses and workshops his knowledge of software QFD as a certified QFD. He successfully completed his studies at the university of Bonn in Mathematic and Economic theory as a Dipl.-Mathematic. During his study he supported several diploma theses and dissertations as well as habilitations of other branches where mathematical problems were to solve furthermore he was the co-author of a  publication „Ein- und Ausgaben des Staates“.

Marcel Kannekens

Marcel Kannekens (1965) has a master in  business economics and accountancy from Erasmus Uninversity in Rotterdam. He is a chartered accountant and has gained professional experience over the years as manager, board member and consultant. Marcel Kannekens worked for Unilever for more than 15 years, where he held various board positions, incl. CFO of Unilever’s Frozen Food Business in the Benelux and General Manager of Mora Benelux. Since 2006, he is Partner of Park Corporate Finance, a consultancy and investment firm. His area of expertise is in mergers and acquisitions, buy outs and (exit) strategies, with a specific focus on consumer foods, retail, biotechnology and health care. Marcel holds non-executive board positions at Cherry Valley Group (food), VDR (construction), ACS BIOmarker (biotech), VandeMheen (foodservice) ans TripleMed (Medtech).
